I LIVING IN LEATHER QUICK FACTS:
What is Living In Leather?
Living In Leather (LIL) is a 501c3 charitable
organization that establishes clubs and events and is focused on awarding
authors, activists, and artists who contribute to our BDSM/Leather/Fetish
culture.
What does LIL do?
LIL has three main focuses:
Awards
- We offer writing awards in five
categories to those authors who provide content to the readers in the world
surrounding our community and activity.
- We offer art awards in five categories
based on style, not a medium, that give insight or acknowledge our
community and activity.
- We offer activist awards in five
categories to recognize those contributing to the progress and needs
surrounding our culture and community.
Incorporations
- We help individuals and groups establish
their own clubs, events, or organizations.
- We provide them with the documents, advice,
and direction to make those dreams a reality.
- We off them an audience to target their
product toward and a magazine to market it with.
Domestic
Violence Project
- We provide direction and assistance to
those in need.
- We make sure that people in our
lifestyle can find counselors that are lifestyle friendly.
- We provide workshops on understanding
the difference between BDSM and abuse!
- We provide access to resources to help the public “KNOW THE DIFFERENCE ©” in our materials.
Can you join LIL?
- While anyone can volunteer, you must be a member of NLA-International to be part of Living In Leather’s activity and gain access to its archives.
Who is eligible for nomination to an
award?
- Any person over 18 years of age may be
nominated or self-nominated as long as they meet the criteria of the award they
are being nominated within.
Who votes on nominations?
- Nomination winners for Artist and Author
awards are determined by judging panels.
- The membership of NLA-International
determines nomination winners for Activist.
How are Judges selected?
- Judges for Art awards are a mixture of
previously awarded artists and actively working community artists. We also
allow preeminent members of our community to sit on this panel from time to
time.
- Judges for Writing awards are
volunteers, some are authors and publishers, but none can judge their own works
or accept a nomination for their work while sitting. All manuscripts are entirely
read by multiple judges and finally voted upon.
How much do nominations cost?
- Depends on the award, you need to review
the existing criteria for each.
- Most of our awards for writing or art can
be waived in exchange for publishing the artist or author's nominated content
within our Link Magazine.
- Artwork nominations have a fee of $20.
- Writing nominations have
a fee of $20.
- Activist nominations have no fees, because there is nothing tangible to manage.
